CGoGN: n-dimensional Meshes with Combinatorial Maps

Many data structures are available for the representation and manipulation of meshes. In the context of algorithms that need to traverse local neighborhoods, topological structures are of particular interest. Many such existing structures are specialized for the representation of objects of a given dimension like surface or volume meshes. Many of them find their roots in combinatorial maps, a m...

Functions of the category of combinatorial geometries and strong maps

As in the case with most mathematical structures, an important question in the theory of combinatorial geometries is to develop constructions for obtaining new geometries from old ones. Several geometric constructions are well-known, e.g. deletion, contraction, truncation, direct sums, etc. . . . and are generally extensions to combinatorial geometries of existing operations on projective geome...

¸ maolinfan@163. com¸Abstract : Combinatorics is a powerful tool for dealing with relations among objectives mushroomed in the past century. However, an even more important work for mathematician is to apply combinatorics to other mathematics and other sciences beside just to find combinatorial behavior for objectives. In the past few years, works of this kind frequently appeared on journals fo...

Geometric Optimization Revisited

Many combinatorial optimization problems such as set cover, clustering, and graph matching have been formulated in geometric settings. We review the progress made in recent years on a number of such geometric optimization problems, with an emphasis on how geometry has been exploited to develop better algorithms. Instead of discussing many problems, we focus on a few problems, namely, set cover,...

Introduction to Combinatorial Maps

Preface Maps as a mathematical main topic arose probably from the four color problem[Ore1] and the more general map coloring problem[Rin1] in the mid of the nineteenth century. I could not list even main references on them because it is well known for mathematicians and beyond the scope of this lecture notes. Here, I only intend to present a comprehensive theory of combinatorial maps as a rigor...
